Upcoming outings – beginning SATURDAY

We have three outings planned within the next two weeks. Number One – What: Halton County Radial Railway (Streetcar Museum) Where: Rockwood, ON Directions: Take Highway 401 west to Campbellville. Take Guelph Line north from Highway 401, go north 14 kms, the museum is on your right. When: SATURDAY September 21st. Meet in the Museum parking lot at 10:15 Museum opens at 10 AM, first streetcar ride runs at 11:00. Come early. Lots of opportunity for “rusty nail shots” – detail and scenic shots of old streetcars and machinery, railway buildings, and people, in a park setting. Admission – Adults $15.50, Seniors $13.50 It may be possible to visit the auto scrap yard just down the road in the afternoon. Details will be provided at the streetcar museum. A signed release will be required. Number Two – What: Wednesday Walk – Fall Salmon Spawn Where: Etienne Brule Park, near the Old Mill. Meet in the parking lot off Catherine Street (Old Mill Road if you are coming from the west) at the corner of Old Mill Drive. It’s on the east bank of the river. When – WEDNESDAY September 25th, 10 AM Continuing the ad-hoc Wednesday Morning walks that we held over the summer. In addition to spending some time along the trail, it may be possible to photograph salmon leaping the waterfalls in the Humber River. Number Three – What: Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory When: SUNDAY September 29th 8AM-10AM Where: 2500 Kossuth Road, Cambridge. Directions: Take Highway 401 west to Highway 24 (Hespeller Road) North. At the Roundabout, take the 3rd Exit – Beaverdale Road North. Go north 5.8 kms to Kossuth Road, turn left (west). Travel distance is 85 kms from Humber Valley United Church – about an hour at that hour on a Sunday. What: Nature and macro photography. We have booked exclusive use of the facility from 8AM to 10AM, which means we can use tripods and other equipment during that period. And we can stay after 10AM when the facility opens if we wish. Admission: $25 We must have a minimum of 8 participants for this booking.
