October 2 – Photographer’s Choice #1 Competition

Oct 2 – This is our first competition of the Sept 2017 to April 2018 club year. Members have now submitted images for judging. Unlike our “category” competitions (nature, people, creative, landscape, architecture etc ) photos can be of the “Photographer’s Choice” in almost any style or subject matter. We have live judging with comments on many images from the judges, so it all makes for an excellent learning experience and the opportunity to see 3 photos that can be submitted by any of our 135 very talented (and friendly!) members. Many have been travelling the country, and indeed the world, to find “that perfect shot”! (Free event)

Check our new > 2017-18 PDF Program which is also available on our website. We have great roster of interesting and diverse speakers and events.  And you are welcome to bring a guest.   (Note: On evenings that we have guest speakers, a $5 fee applies to non-members)

Oct 9 – Thanksgiving long weekend – no meeting

Oct 14/15 – Keep posted on the OUTINGS blog below for our REVISED schedule.  Saturday outing will now be to ROCKWOOD Conservation Park and Sunday we will go to Mount Nemo. Full details on the OUTINGS blog below. Guests are welcome. This is a great opportunity to get some hands-on coaching.

Oct 16 – Mon: Our Guest speaker will be Professional Photographer and Social Media expert Pamela Julian who will talk about the trend away from traditional Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras to the new generation of mirrorless cameras. These new style of compact cameras still retain the benefits of removable lens, but with the elimination of the moving mirror and prism, they are smaller and lighter. And they typically provide more advanced electronic features, including faster focusing and high resolution 4K video capabilities. Don’t miss hearing this Urban and Architecture Photographer who knows how to capture a city like no one else, will no doubt show us many terrific images, and will also talk about Social Media. ($5 fee for non-members)

Oct 23 –  Mon: Print Night #1  This is our first of two PRINT competitions of our Sept 2017 to April 2018 club year. Members may bring and submit two prints, which can be of almost any style or subject matter (nature, people, creative, landscape, architecture etc ) in colour or monochrome. We have live judging with comments on many images from the judges, so it all makes for an excellent learning experience and the opportunity to see prints that can be submitted by any of our 135 very talented (and friendly!) members. Some photographers are pleased to sell their prints, so why not consider enhancing your home with a beautiful original print? (Admission is free)
